Irish Breaks
Galway Early Music Festival

History lovers and musicians are in abundance at this feast of dance, music and period costumes. It is a celebration of the culture between the twelfth and eighteenth centuries. The dance and music of the medieval, renaissance and baroque eras are reenacted in concerts. Enthusiasts can take part in workshops and master classes. Professional musicians and amateurs are encouraged to participate in historic performances in Galway and the rest of Ireland.

The festival begins in May of each year and one can see concerts or take part in a workshop. The concerts are staged by highly renowned musicians. Events take place in schools and in the Galway City Museum. Street entertainment is also in abundance. This festival highlights the aura of the air of medieval Galway and how the area is so rich in culture and art.

During the year concerts and talks take place as well as workshops. The festival has its ensemble named Seoda which means gems in the Irish language. Any musicians are welcome to learn more about the early music. Seoda hosts performances all year round for events and functions.
